Naivasha – Hells gate

NAIVASHA AND HELL´S GATE

These two destinations are ideal to visit together due to their proximity to each other, 90 km from Nairobi. Lake Naivasha is dominated by acacia woodlands, papyrus wetlands, and volcanic mountains in the horizon. Close to the lake, Hell’s Gate is renowned for its breathtaking cliffs, gorges, and geothermal features; it provides a radically different yet complementary experience.

WILDLIFE AND BIRD WATCHING

Lake Naivasha is a haven for birders with nearly 400 species of birds, among them African fish eagles, herons, and cormorants. Giraffes, zebras, and colobus monkeys have also made the topography around their home ground. Hippos can be found indulging in regales around the lake most of the time. From there, a day’s drive around Hell’s Gate National Park will make one come across animals like zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, and antelopes. Amidst a recorded population of over 100 different species of birds, includes the rare lammergeyer vultures.

LAND AND WATER ACTIVITIES

There is a need to undertake an across-the-boat trip across the tranquil waters of Lake Naivasha. During these boat trips, one views the hippos and birds at close interactions, and tourists are allowed to walk among giraffes, zebras, and wildebeests on a stopover at Crescent Island. In Hell’s Gate, the experience turns more adventure-like in nature. Take a walk through the canyons that are breathtakingly beautiful in this park, ride bicycles among the animals, or take up a rock climb of Fischer’s Tower and Central Tower.

SCENIC BEAUTY AND GEOLOGICAL MARVELS

In a nutshell, Hell’s Gate surprises with the abyss of vertical cliffs, geothermal steam vents, and high rock formations. Lake Naivasha dazzles with its calm waters, intensive green cover, and volcanic mountain profiles such as Mount Longonot somewhere in the distance. The Ol Njorowa Gorge, with its hot springs and other geothermal features, gives a peep into the earth for its thermal activities, which are tapped and utilized by the nearby Olkaria Geothermal Plant. From the calm shores of Lake Naivasha to the dramatic cliffs and gorges of Hell’s Gate, it is sceneries that are to be found in this destination.
