Solio Ranch Conservancy
History
Solio Ranch Conservancy was originally a cattle ranch with an emphasis on rhino conservation. As a result, it was designated as a reserve in 1970. The Conservancy supplies rhinos to other reserves in East Africa, where they are part of a breeding program for black rhinos. It has a substantial population of white rhinos. The Solio Ranch Conservancy is tucked away in a valley between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountains, about 110 miles north of Nairobi. It is located 24 kilometers away from Nyeri Town along Nyeri-Nyahururu highway.
Wildlife
At the Solio Ranch Conservancy, you will spot four of the renowned “Big Five”. This is the place to go on safari and view the much-loved white and black rhino, as well as lions relaxing and gorgeous waterbuck. More than 350 bird species have been identified at the ranch. The grasslands that make up the topography of Solio Ranch Conservancy are bordered by yellow fever trees along the Moyo River’s riverbank, which offers a haven for a variety of species and vegetation.
