Location
Nyungwe Forest national-park is a diverse rain-forest and also a biodiversity hot-spot. It boasts a rich array of flora and fauna. Nyungwe Forest national-park is renowned for its hilly topography, beautiful sceneries, and significance for conservation. It is located in the Albertine Rift, which is a component of the broader East African Rift system. As a result, the park supplies water to Rwanda and the Nile and Congo River systems.
Primate Paradise
Because of its large primate population, Nyungwe Forest in East Africa is a highly recommended place to do primate tracking. However the park is home to 13 different kinds of primates.
They include the uncommon Ruwenzori colobus monkeys, which can be seen in groups of up to 300 individuals, and chimpanzees.
As a bird watching Haven
With more than 300 different species of birds—27 are native to the Albertine Rift region. Nyungwe Forest National Park is a birdwatcher’s dream destination. Beside that, visitors can see colorful species including the Ruwenzori turaco, the great blue turaco, and the red-collared mountain babbler. Bird-watching here is a unique experience because many of these species are hard to find elsewhere in Africa
Hiking and Canopy walk
Hikers will find haven in Nyungwe. The park has approximately 130 kilometers of well-maintained paths. They meander through bamboo groves, wide forest areas, marshes, and dense rain forest. The most well-known feature of the park is the canopy walkway. This is a suspension bridge that is situated 50 meters above the forest floor. In addition ,it provides visitors with amazing views of the rain forest canopy as well as an up-close look at birds and primates. Hiking trails that allow hikers experience the rich biodiversity of the forest on foot include the Igishigishigi Trail and the Isumo Waterfall Trail.
