Murchison Falls safari is a short tour that will take you to the mighty Murchison Falls. Expect big five sighting but the highlight is the boat trip to base of the falls and a hike (if you like) to the top of the falls. A safari to the Murchison Falls offers the opportunity for Big 5 sighting in Uganda. Enjoy the roars of the Murchison Falls.
The most potent waterfall in the world, which roars with such ferocity that the ground trembles around it, is the main draw of Murchison Falls National Park. However, it is also a vital region for African biodiversity, home to over 450 bird species and over 70 mammal species.
The 384,000-hectare Murchison Falls National Park (MFNP), which was created in 1952 and is currently the biggest and most popular national park in Uganda. It has Murchison Falls as just one of its parts. It is traversed by the Victoria Nile, which has broad, white rapids surrounded by rust-red cliffs and riverine forest. Traveling across the savannas and woodlands that border the river are safari-goers from all over the world. Vibrant hot-air balloons full of visitors drift in the mist of dawn like dreamlike objects overhead.
In summary, the Murchison Falls National Park is currently the largest park in Uganda, encompassing 3840 square kilometers or 1483 square miles. Its abundant wildlife and variety of safari activities make it a popular destination for tourists.
Among the sights and activities are:
Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park
Start the day with an early breakfast at the hotel, and then get picked up by our driver/guide at 7:00 am to take the Kampala-Luwero-Nakasongola-Masindi road for a five to six-hour trip to Murchison Falls National Park. Make a stop at Luwero Town to get some organic and sweet tropical fruits, such as passion fruit, pineapples, jackfruits, and yellow bananas.
Continue driving until you reach the Nakasongola district. From there, you will take an alternate route to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you may track rhinos, one of the rarest big five creatures in the world. A visit here will expose you to the nation's only remaining population of white rhinos. We'll eat lunch at the Masindi Hotel.
The Kichombanyobo gate provides entry to Murchison Falls National Park, and the drive there takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes from the Masindi guesthouse. The olive baboons that greet you as you enter Uganda's premier and most exceptional National Park are the first of many wildlife species that will make your visit to this place a true paradise on earth. Among the animals you will observe on the journey to the Lodge are waterbucks, warthogs, and Uganda Kobs.
After a fairly strenuous trek to the top of the falls, where you can take in the breathtaking views of the Murchison Falls, make your way down to the Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Game Drive and afternoon launch cruise in Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, head out for an early game drive. You may see lions, hyenas, and leopards coming back from their hunts, as well as giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, and elands. You will be able to observe several bird species that live in the Park during this two to three hour session.
Murchison Falls National Park is divided into two areas by the Nile River: the southern section is known for its great ecological richness, making it a popular destination for seeing wildlife. However, a boat ride to the northern side will be necessary if the reserved lodging is located in the southern portion.
By 11:00 or 11:30 a.m., you will return from the game drive and continue with lunch and rest. Head to the bottom of the falls for a launch ride along the Victoria Nile, where you can witness the enormous hippos and Nile crocodiles, as well as antelopes, buffaloes, and elephants on the banks, as well as a variety of aquatic bird species including pelicans and kingfishers. The guide will show you Ernest Hemingway's "crush point" during the boat ride, and you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the massive Murchison Falls. Go back to the Lodge to unwind, have dinner, and spend the night.
Murchison Falls National Park-Kampala
After your final breakfast of the three-day Murchison Falls safari, go on another game drive to increase your chances of seeing wildlife that you might not have seen the day before. After two hours, head back to the lodge for check-out and then use the northern gate to drive to Kampala. Before continuing on, stop for a little while to take in the breathtaking Karuma Falls. After stopping for lunch at Kabalega Diners, you will go directly to Kampala (or to the location of your choice for drop-off).
